Things to do

On the ice

In a cold winter the ice in the harbor gets very thick, and locals eventually take snowmobiles and skis out on it. The kayak line toward Sommarö can become a ski line. Wait until you see people already out there. Farther out there are currents, and the ice can be thinner.

Fishing

The traditional winter fishing here is with nets. A fishing license for nets is sold at the local store in Södra Vallgrund, Södra Vallgrund Handelslag. A lot of people come for a fishing holiday and use Norra Vallgrund as a base. The guest harbor has a boat ramp.

Berries

Sea buckthorn grows at Norra Vallgrund beach. Blueberries and lingonberries show up if you drive down Söderuddentie.

The boat harbor

The village keeps two private harbors. Mustasaari keeps one public guest harbor.
